It’s been a very busy few weeks since coming back from holiday!
I had an amazing time in Florida and it was lovely to just chill out and enjoy myself for a break but now it’s back to the nitty gritty 🙂
Two days back from hols I took Trusty to a cross country clinic at Tweseldown with Ben Hobday which was amazing. Ben is my absolute hero of the eventing world and this is my second clinic with him. I love his training methods and how he teaches as he makes it really easy and simple to understand. Remembering the three ingredients to a good jumping round – power, balance and a straight line! I had a fab day and was really pleased with Trusty as it has been a while since he’s seen a rustic fence and he coped really well, answering every question!
Last Thursday I took Roly to Bury Farm just to pop round the British Novice which he did with a lovely clear which was really pleasing as I haven’t really sat on him for a while. We’re gearing up for a trip to Hickstead on Sunday for the riding club team event and Roly is off there as we’ve had such good results through the Winter.
Both myself and Katie went out to dressage at Bury on Tuesday and I came away with a 5th with Trusty who took an unfortunate dislike to the letter A throughout the test! Sadly this dropped our score down and without the spooking he’d have been very close to the leader. We are very rusty though as we haven’t been out to dressage since April so I can’t be too hard on myself.
I’ve finally entered my first one day event with Trusty – Aston Le Walls on 12th August and I can’t wait. We’re going for a schooling round so that Trusty comes away with lots of confidence and hopefully it’s a good step up to his eventing career.
